Karela Stuffed with Keema

(Minced Meat Stuffed Bitter Gourd)

Servings: 3-4 persons

Ingredients:

Bitter Gourd/Karela - 150-200 g (about 3-4)

Keema filling - 100 g

Turmeric - a pinch

Salt - To taste ( suggested 1/2 tsp)

White Oil - 6 tbsp for frying

Water - 3 cups

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Preparation:

  1. Cut bitter gourd/karela into half.

  2. Immerse the cut pieces in boiling water with salt and turmeric. Cover and boil for 5-6 minutes.

  3. Remove and drain water. Let cool and then scoop out seeds from the bitter gourd/karela.

  4. Stuff the pieces with keema filling.

 

Cooking procedure:

  1. Heat oil in a flat bottom pan.

  2. Add stuffed karela and fry till brown.

                

Serving Suggestions:

This is a very exotic and delicious starter to a lunch or dinner party. People who stay away from karela are bound to change their minds after they eat one of this.
