Serving Size: 2 persons

Ingredients:

Masoor Dal - 1/2 cup

Onions - 1 small, finely sliced

Green Chillies - 2-3 (optional), chopped

Coriander leaves/Dhonepata/Cilantro - 2 tbsp, chopped

Whole Red Chillies - 2

Salt - To taste

Oil/Ghee - 1 tbsp

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cooking procedure:

  1. Clean and wash dal, tie up in a cheese cloth loosely.

  2. Immerse the cheese cloth in a container of boiling water, make sure that the dal is not directly soaked in water.

  3. Cook covered for 15-20 min till the dal is cooked.

  4. Remove cheese cloth from boiling water carefully and keep dal aside.

  5. Heat 1 tbsp ghee/oil.

  6. Add dry red chillies and fry for 30 seconds.

  7. Then add the sliced onions and fry till it turns soft and brown. Use this to garnish the boiled dal along with chopped green chillies if required.

 

Serving Suggestions:

Serve hot with steamed rice and your choice of another bhatey preparation. The combination makes a nutritious and filling meal for those in a hurry.
