Serving Size: 3-4 persons

 

Ingredients:

Urad Dal/Kolai dal - 1/2 cup

Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp

Mouri/Saunf - 2 tsp

Hing - a pinch

Dry Red Chilli - 1

Bay leaf - 1 large

Turmeric - 1/4 tsp

Salt - To taste ( suggested 1/2 tsp)

Water - 2 cups

White Oil - 1 tbsp

Use of green chilly is optional

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Preparation:

  1. Roast dal on low heat for about 3-4 min.

  2. Cook dal with turmeric, salt, and bay leaf. If using a pressure cooker steam for 2 whistles on high heat.

  3. Grind 1 tsp mouri into a dry powder (coffee grinder works well).

 

Cooking procedure:

  1. Heat oil in a flat bottom pan.

  2. Add 1 tsp whole mouri and dry red chilli.

  3. Add cooked dal and let come to boil. Boil for 2-3 min.

  4. Add ginger paste, powder mouri and hing. Let boil for 1 min and remove from heat.

  5. Keep covered for a few minutes before serving.
